Car history:
I bought this car from the original owner over the winter as a project but decided to work on my 69 instead. This is a PERFECT NCRS candidate. If you are in to originality and numbers matching, this is for you. Ok, the car has had one owner. I have the title, signed by the original owner, not registered to me yet...so any new owner is the second owner. The car was purchased August 15th, 1968 in NJ. It is a late 68 coupe, L79, Factory AC, M-21, AM/FM, Originally Silverstone Silver (now a bad paint job white) on black interior. The frame has a lot of surface rust, however, we banged and banged on every area we could and found no bad spots, just looks bad. This car needs a frame off and is super original. The front cross member (the one that always rusts and is bolt on 68 only) is bad, however I recently picked up a nice original 68 and it goes with the car. Let me say here, all the below parts and documentation on this car are ORIGINAL to this car, not pieced together to replace, these were born with this car. The original owner kept EVERYTHING! 327/350 hp, ALL ORIGINAL DRIVETRAIN (ENGINE TRANS REAR)
ORIGINAL VALVE COVERS, CHROME WITH "O" STAMP, MINT ORIGINAL AC COMPRESSOR, ORIGINAL STARTER, ORIGINAL ALTERNATOR, ORIGINAL RADIATOR AND CAP! HAVE ORIGINAL SMOG A.I.R. FOR THE CAR. ORIGINAL QUADRAJET (YES!!!! THE 7028219 DG). ORIGINAL CHROME SHIELDING, NOT ORIGINAL MASTER CYLINDER BUT I WILL FIND ONE AND INCLUDE IT. EXHAUST PIPES ORIGINAL BUT RUSTED OUT. ORIGINAL 2 SLOT TIPS NICE SHAPE BUT NEED A RECHROME. ORIGINAL SPARE. ORIGINAL JACK .
INTERIOR: ALL ORIGINAL, VERY NICE. ONLY ONE SMALL NICK ON ONE SEAT
THE INTERIOR IS SUPER!!! INDICATIVE OF 53K CAR....ORIGINAL DASH, NO CRACKS. ORIGINAL RADIO. ORIGINAL E BRAKE CONSOLE , NO CRACKS. ORIGINAL STEERING WHEEL, NO CRACKS!! CARPET IS ORIGINAL BUT IN BAD SHAPE. ORIGINAL SMOOTH GAUGE BEZEL, NOT CRACKED!!!! ALL AC COMPONENTS IN PLACE, NICE! ORIGINAL ASHTRAY, LIGHTER (THIS GUY DID NOT SMOKE BECAUSE IT LOOKS UNUSED). ORIGINAL SEATBELTS AND SHOULDER BELTS (SUPER RARE OPTION W/O HEADRESTS I WAS TOLD). EXTERIOR. BAD WHITE PAINT. HAS ABOUT A 6" GOUGE IN L/QUARTER WHERE A PIECE OF LAWN EQUIPMENT FELL ON IT IN THE GARAGE. ORIGINAL HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES. ORIGINAL BUMPERS, NICE CORES BUT NEED A RECHROME. ORIGINAL GLASS EXCEPT FRONT WINDSHEILD. DOORS SHUT PERFECT, VERY TIGHT. WEATHERSTIP EVERYWHERE IS EXCELLENT! Rocker panels are intact, just painted white.
DOCUMENTATION: ORIGINAL BILL OF SALE, ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER, MINT
ORIGINAL PROTECTO-PLATE, ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL AND JACKET, ORIGINAL SMOG BROCHURE, ORIGINAL RADIO TAG, ORIGINAL WIPER HANG TAG, ORIGINAL SEAT SHIM BAG, ORIGINAL OWNER HAS A LOG BOOK OF EVERY TANK OF GAS HE EVER PUT IN THE CAR DOCUMENTING MILEAGE AT 53K!! I have the ORIGINAL keys for this car, including the original key that locked the center rear compartment. Original JACK still in place. I even found the ORIGINAL T-Top covers, still folded, unused in the storage compartment. The original owner sent me the original dated shocks, original dist cap, and other doo dads for the car. Having said all this, the car needs a frame off. The engine does not turn, not broken, just from sitting for so long (stored since 1982, but was running when stored). We pulled the original valve covers and the heads and all look very clean. The car has old bias ply tires and does roll fine. It shifts smooth but reverse is stuck? We put a battery on it and all the lights work fine. This is not a paint and drive car. This is a car that was "rescued" in the nick of time. It was stored in a garage since 1982. The original owner bought the car after returning from Vietnam (I know, same old story but it is true, I have had long talks with him about the car) and drove it regularly until 1982. He advised he had a low speed front end boo boo that was repaired by the Chevrolet dealer in 1970. hate to part with this car. I fully intended on restoring this car as I love 68's and originality, but my 69 is an easier project for me and my limited skills. This car is for the purist. I encourage anyone interested (seriously) to PM me and give me a good way to contact you. The car is in Delaware and I have a very flexible schedule and will be able to show it whenever. This is a PERFECT NCRS car to be restored. A RARE find. I have owned a 68 since 1985 and would love to keep this as originally intended. I have never seen an original 68 with this may documents and original parts. Remember, all the parts that go with this car, except the front cross member, CAME ON THIS CAR WHEN BOUGHT IN 68, Including all the paperwork and tags!!! $14,000. Color codes from the trim plate. Built date is L30. July 6, 2010.
